AJ was mesmerized as he gazed upon a radiant face and beautiful green eyes that seemed oblivious to him as she bathed.

No one would ever call him a pretty boy, even when he smiled and those dimples appeared and a boyish laughter reflected in his blue eyes.
And his large, black-rimmed glasses accentuated those unforgettable blue eyes. Bluer than blue. Sky blue. Cornflower blue. Robin’s egg blue.
She lifted one delicate brow and glared at him, mute. Those eyes of hers – an almost iridescent version of gold blended with bronze – though angry, held him spellbound.
But it was the eyes now locked on hers that reflected who he was. Right from the day they’d met, she’d loved how they brightened and darkened with his mood.
Things were moving fast, but the way she looked at him with those big blue eyes, there was only one response to her question.

Halfway across the gardens, he caught up to her, grabbed her arm, and pulled her around in front of him. Pain-filled eyes and streaming tears grabbed his heart, but he held on.
She leaned against the moss-covered brick wall across from her shop and closed her eyes. How she’d hoped never to hear that name again. Jade.
