Rafe entered the law office. Like the Band-Aid analogy, the sooner he did this, the sooner he could work through the pain.
“This is serious, young man. You broke the law. That’s very wrong. Should I call the police?” Ben shook his head. His finger inched to his eye where he pushed the corner to stave the threatening-to-flow tears.
“What kind of game are you playing, Detective? There ain’t no law that says I can’t go for a walk through a dad-blasted field, now is there?”
She clearly isn’t competent to make a decision about this child’s welfare and while everyone is arguing a point of law, his life is slipping away.

It didn’t take me long to discover, via a quick Google search, that sellers were required by law to disclose any documented “ghoulish activity.”
“Tania, the daughter, has to live near the toad. It’s the law.”
Had life experience changed him? Yep. Law enforcement was eye-opening to say the least.
She’d have to research the law to determine if the disposal of a dead body fell in the category of a misdemeanor or a felony in the legal code.
“Elise Burgmann, Criminal Law Attorney.” He whistled. “Would’ve never guessed that.”
