For years she and Adam had worked on the Phoenix File together, ever since an incredibly brave young woman escaped the tyranny of a failed marriage to a US attorney with an eye on the governor’s chair.
The doctor was a pompous ass, the lawyer was a fast talking bullshitter, and the financier was about as exciting as yesterday’s mashed potatoes.

I breathed many sighs of relief when her attorney recommended she move back to British Columbia.
Oddly enough, Kate felt comfortable and very relaxed when they arrived at the attorney’s office.
Each one had pulled her aside and told her they’d give her the money for an attorney if she’d get help and promise not to set foot in the casino again, but she was unable to comply. Didn’t want to comply, she corrected.

Juliet shook her head. “Someone jumped my lawyer behind his office, and he’s unconscious.”
“Flimsy evidence.” Wanda tossed her dehydrated locks. “We need to call the authorities and do a fingerprint test.” Dixon said calmly, “I can arrange that. My brother is a cop.”
