Tucked away in the remote north eastern section of Washington State, we were a two hour drive on dirt roads from a town in any direction.
He’s one of the reasons we don’t have holiday parties anymore. The last one we had to call the cops—”
“Kate, I want to have a permanent place in your life and in Bailey’s. I don’t have regular hours. Sometimes, I’m gone for weeks like I was during the holidays, and then I’m home at odd times.”
I watched him squint at his phone, then shift his gaze to the street signs. He consulted his device again, and then swiveled about, moving in the opposite direction. The spring breeze stirred his short, dark brown hair.
He noticed more than one filled with Easter baskets and was startled to realize the holiday was almost upon them. It was easy to lose track of time when the job was your family.
Every one of the ER staff seemed frazzled and upset. Odd. This group could handle the busiest day and the highest level of stress like an Easter Sunday picnic.

The Sisterhood of Suspense share lines with the theme EASTER
Hey, gals, was glad to see not all of you used the word “Easter.” I checked all my books, and never used it. LOL I’ve shared. 🙂
I hadn’t in these stories either. So I subbed “spring.” 🙂
Good list. Maggie’s Revenge is in my TBR pile, working it’s way up!
