Celebrate Life

Hi, y’all,

I’m new to this blog, so I thought I would take a sec and introduce myself. I’m Janet Leigh. I live in Texas with my husband and three children. My baby will graduate from Texas A&M University next month, and I will place a giant checkmark in the ‘kids graduated from college box’.  My current job as medical director of a multidisciplinary chiropractic office requires me to keep the staff happy and help patients in pain recover with my quick wit and chiropractic skills.

When a shoulder injury threatened my job, I worried I wouldn’t find another profession I loved as much as my current one. How can I help people heal if I couldn’t physically do my job? Then it hit me. I come from a long line of people who can spin a yarn, embellish the truth, and tell tall tales in a single bound. I picked up a pen and put my storytelling to good use. My goal-make people laugh away their pain or maybe forget it for a few hours. And so, my writing career developed with my snarky persona appearing as Jennifer Cloud and my crazy family stories woven into her time-traveling adventures.

Book 1

Enough about me. Every day there is a reason to celebrate. Today, I celebrated my mom. She retired after working for almost 60 years. The number of people who joined in a virtual party for her was overwhelming, and they had such fun stories to share. At the end, my teary-eyed mom told everyone she would miss them but reminded them every day is a reason to celebrate. Every day is a reason to be the best of the best, and every day is the time to remember to celebrate the good things and don’t dwell on the bad.

So, I challenge you. Tell me three things you are grateful for or three good things that happened to you today.

Take a few minutes to celebrate life.

Hi, Janet and welcome to Word by Word. The best news is your mom’s. I can’t imagine sixty years at a job and she did it. What a great joy! As for three things–I am baking cookies with little Julia this afternoon; I am doing what I love-writing; I went to Jazzercise this morning. Hugs, vb

Hi Janet, welcome! Congrats to your mom! Today I’m looking forward to, working on book four of my Sierra Creek Series, a walk with hubby, talking with my kids and enjoying a Friday night movie. Grateful for the day. 🙂

Hi Janet and welcome to the blog. Today I took Fluffy to the dog park and ran into an ex nurse with her pack of rescue dogs. She was celebrating her 70th birthday with a mani/pedicure at the local mall. I just finished a book and thought I’d do some writing this afternoon.

  5. Nice “meeting” you, Janet. Today, for the first time in more than a year, I met a longtime friend at a restaurant! It was great to catch up in person and see her adorable grandson. I’m virtually helping my daughter and her fiance look at houses, and simply enjoying a warm, sunny day! Happy Friday to all!

  6. Hey, Janet. Lovely post. Congrats to your mother. What an awesome accomplishment. I’m sure she’ll love being able to decide how she spends her time. Good thing: well, the rain stopped long enough for me to get errands run. Second good thing, it rained. The lake is filling up and the everything is super green as only rain can do. Third good, thing is I have a good bit of time this afternoon to work on edits for 9th book. Love the pic. Reminds me of Bar Harbor, ME. When you cross the bar to the little piece of land, you can see where folks have piled up their stack of rocks. Great fun. So glad you’ve joined us here on WBW. 🙂

Your mom sounds as though she’s an inspiration to you and everyone she knows- congrats on her retirement!
I’m grateful for warm spring breezes, flowering fruit trees, and hubby, who always makes me smile ❤
