Fireworks, Food, Fun, and Family

This past Sunday was the Fourth of July.

Handsome and I gathered with friends, cooked hotdogs and hamburgers, then drove to a spot nearby to watch the fireworks show. We shared, laughed, ate, and stared at the colorful bursts lighting the sky. I know I’m truly lucky. I cherish these days. Family. Friends. Food.

Over my lifetime thus far, I have seen amazing firework shows:

1/With Handsome and friends on a boat in San Francisco bay.

Colorful Fireworks

2/On a balcony office building with my young family where the fireworks were shot right at us, and we felt the booms in our chests.

3/When driving home after a family gathering, my friend and I spied a show at a stadium. Pulled over and enjoyed every minute.

4/After my shift ended at an amusement park, I changed clothes and sat on an old bench in the compound area with other co-workers. As the fireworks detonated over our heads, we whooped and hollered, and then, gave a rating.

5/Around the corner from my house and a few blocks further is a country club firework show for their members. #2son and I parked our chairs on a sidewalk and watched. Just the two of us.

6/My family and I sitting on the steps of the National Gallery in Washington D.C. and viewed the show over the Washington monument.

I wish I had good pix of these to share, but I’ve never been able to take good photos of fireworks.

Are you a fireworks fan? If so, can you share a memory?

Full of sass and another kind of fireworks:

Excerpt:

“Jonson doesn’t comprehend the concept. Not with a small part”—with a mischievous grin, I crooked my little finger—“like his.”

Behind her hand, Tracey snickered for a moment, then grew somber. “And how would you know his man part size, sister dear?”

“Why, sister dear, you told me.”

“So I did.”

  1. I love fireworks! Not the noisy pop-pop-pop firecrackers, but the beautiful bursts of color against the night sky. We almost always find a spot to view them on July 4th. If it weren’t for the crowds, I’d love to see them in D.C. some day!

I love fireworks. The DC show was awesome yet hot and crowded. We soldiered. Lol. When would we ever see this show again.

I love fireworks too! I’ve seen them in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and in a small town in California. If they are big affairs with loud music or smaller events, I enjoy seeing the kids response and the wonder in their eyes!

Fireworks are magical. My youngest son was afraid when he was three. He grew out of it.

  5. Hey, Vicki. I love this post and yes, I love fireworks, with the variety of shapes and the sparkly colors. One of the most exciting times was attending an Rangers baseball game in LA. We left before the very end and were in the parking lot when the fireworks went off. It was magical. We were almost directly under them. Car alarms went off because of the vibrations. So very cool. I’ve shared. 🙂

Hi Marsha! How much fun and memorable. I saw fireworks in Malta. The guide said for our fourth and they will never forget what America did for them.
