The beach. My happy place and the place I get most of my inspiration for writing my books. My hubby (who I lovingly refer to in my blog as My Scot because he’s half Scottish) and I normally do a beach week in September or October. During this time, I plot out my next Jennifer Cloud novel. Today, I decided to do an acronym of the word BEACH and add some awesome photos, so here goes:
B=Beautiful-Because the sunrises & sunsets are spectacular.

E= Energetic-The beach creates an energy that makes me want to take better care of my body, drink more water, take long walks, absorb vitamin D, and treat others and marine life with respect.

A = Alleviate-All my worries are lessened by the soothing sound of waves lapping lazily against the sand.

C = Calm- The beach (when we’re not in a hurricane) is the most grounding place I know. Watching the azure blue water for the fins of a dolphin family, meditating on a yoga mat stretched out on the sand, or taking that long walk down the shoreline and finding the perfect seashell are a few of my favorite calming activities.

H = High (I bet you thought I was going to say happy.) High means very happy, exhilarated, joyful. Like the song goes, There’s no better high than toes in the water, A** in the sand, not a worry in the world. Life is good today.

There’s my life at the beach. I would love to see an acronym of your happy place.

Fortunate enough to live by the Mediterranean in Spain, I know just what you mean! I had my first paddle for years yesterday….but love the soothing sound and sight of it. It lifts the heart. Cheers. x

I used to love the beach and truly still do love walking the shore in the mornings and evenings. But we have always liked the mountains. And long walks. A ham sandwich. Friends and family.

Ahhhhh! The beach is my happy place, too!! Unfortunately, I don’t get there nearly as often as I’d like! Great pics! The happy shows!

Hey, Janet. What a great post. I love water. It can be a beach or lake. I do find it calming and when there is a storm it’s sitrring. So my favorite place besides where we live on a lake is the coast of Maine, and some of the most beautiful pics I’ve ever taken are around Moosehead Lake in the middle of the state. Absolutely magic. I’ve shared. 🙂

Hi Janet, enjoyed your post! Nice acronym. I’ve always lived near a large body of water, a lake or the ocean. I’m now living near the beach and wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂

That looks like a really relaxed way to plot a book, particularly a beach book. We have beautiful beaches here but we don’t get the sun the same. I’ve never had a beach umbrella chair like that and can’t really remember seeing any at local beaches. Might be with a quick trip to Parksville. I’m almost certain I’ve seen them there.
