CELEBRATING FALL

Today, I’m celebrating Fall. It’s my favorite time of year. I love the cooler temps. For us in Texas that means, our highs are in the mid-80s. That doesn’t sound very cool to many of you, but remember on Monday of this week, we hit 100 with a high humidity. So many things are relative. Temps being one of them. Anyway, I’m celebrating the “cooler” temps of fall.

My fall decorations have been up since right after Labor Day. I used to wait until it cooled off, but then I realized I was waiting until almost Thanksgiving. Then it was jump into Christmas, and I didn’t get to enjoy the decorations long enough. So I gave myself permission to put up fall as soon as I took down the red, white, and blue that I have up all summer for July 4th and Labor Day. Now, it’s not like I have stuff in the house for those holidays, but I have a patriotic wreath and Welcome Sign hanging on my gate.

Many falls, we’ve been blessed to travel to New England. Our first trip there was in my first year as an elementary school principal. For the first time ever, the school district put a fall break in the calendar. (Lots of firsts there. LOL) We went to Vermont and New Hampshire.

I’d lived in Massachusetts when I was in 6th grade when my Air Force Father was stationed near Springfield. I loved all the snow and all the history. Returning as an adult, I felt like I must’ve lived there in another life. I’m so happy whenever we get to go, wherever we get to go. We’ve stayed in several states, but after we discovered Maine, that’s where we’ve mostly gone. We are really pumped about a trip this October. Because of Covid and other things, we haven’t been since 2018. (Probably my post next month will share some of the pics from the forthcoming trip. I’ve got N95 masks to wear on the plane and KN95 for the rest of the time. Won’t be stylish, but we’ll be safe. Thank you CDC, we’ll be getting our booster tomorrow!

When COMPROMISE releases on November 4, I’ll have three books set in New England. VERMONT ESCAPE is my first published book. Woodstock is the primary setting for this book. The second book in The Second Chances Series, ACT OF TRUST, is set in Maine, in the fictional town of Griffin Harbor. COMPROMISE is set in New Hampshire in the fictional town of Tidbury. These are books about Texans in their 40s and 50s who find themselves drawn to New England for various reasons.

Y’all know COMPROMISE hasn’t released yet. I just threw this together when I realized I could group the books this way.

I could write some more, but the winds are calling me outside. You know the Snoopy Happy Dance? That’s what I do on a day like today.

Charley enjoying his new throw and my new pillow.

Have you ever traveled in the fall? If so where to? What do you do special to celebrate fall? I hope one thing you’ll do is stop by the Isn’t It Romantic Book Club on Facebook today. Over 265 authors are giving away books and Gift Cards I’ll be there, giving away a print copy of VERMONT ESCAPE & a print and pdf of TAINTED, and a $10 Starbucks GC. Please stop by. I bet you’ll even find a new author or two. Good luck. Love to hear from you, here and there. 😊

We’ll be doing a bit of traveling as well. I love watching the leaves turn their spectacular colors, but will miss having spring and summer flowers.

    1. Hey, Vicki. Glad you’ll be getting away. Flowers are great. I love we get butterflies from them, but fall leaves are my favorite. Thanks so much for stopping by.

  2. Those are such cute fall decorations. When my kids were young I did a little decorating, but it was more for Halloween. These days, I might get a few mums. But summer is my season. We’re getting ready to head to the New York Finger Lakes region where I hope to see some beautiful fall color for my daughter’s wedding pics! Enjoy the season!

I love weddings. Think in another life I must’ve been a wedding planner. Or maybe that will be the next life. LOL Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hi Marsha, Enjoy your trip. We aren’t traveling this fall but love the colors of the trees and the cooler weather. BTW, sweet decorations. Looks like Charley has found his happy place. 🙂 We have a pumpkin decoration for the front door.that we have been using since the kids were small.

    1. Hey, Reggi. We’ve worried a bit about our trip, but have friends who are doing it safely. We get our Booster this afternoon, so with masks, I think we’ll be as safe as humanly possible. Yes, Charley loves the new throw. It is super soft and cuddly. We don’t use real pumpkins, and don’t really decorate much outside. Our front faces the lake. I have something on the gate, but didn’t find the perfect thing. Just a thing I picked up at Walmart. Glad you’re having cooler temps. We are, too. (90!) But next week is better and will just be int eh 80s. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. 🙂
