Do you go out and hit the malls and store or internet to get the best deals today? Well, not just today, since this Black Friday began a week ago and goes through Monday, officially Cyber Monday.
My husband’s Aunt Virginia was a big Black Friday shopper back in the day, when it really was only a one-day thing. I have fond memories of getting out early with her after the day before eating too much turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie and sausage balls and what she called Christmas Munch, otherwise known as Chex Mix. We’d battle the traffic. Bob would let us off close to the door, and he’d end up parking at the back of the lot. The end result was after going into every store, she got all of her Christmas shopping done on that one day.
Auntie has been gone for many years now, but we still eat her Sausage Balls and Christmas Munch. I can’t say I miss those trips to the mall to fight the hordes in the stores. But I do love a good deal, so I might still go out.
Now-a-days it’s so easy to buy on-line. I wasn’t much of an on-line buyer until Covid, but now I am. Gosh, I even bought some clothes on-line in the depth of the pandemic.
Authors have been into on-line shopping and sales for a time. This year for the first time ever, I’ve put one of my books on sale for 99 Cents. I’m thankful for the members of this Word By Word Blog and our followers in this search to find encouraging, uplifiting, positive thoughts for our busy lives.
When we went around the table yesterday, our 12-year-old grandson volunteered to go first, and he was thankful that Mimi and Grandad have such a great place on the lake. Made my heart swell.
However you spent yesterday, I hope it was a great one. Be careful out there if you hit the malls.

Happy Thanksgiving, Marsha and Happy Black Friday! And you do have a great place on the lake.
I remember fondly going out on Black Friday many times with family or with friends shopping. You see, I love being in crowds, seeing and feeling the excitement. It doesn’t matter what the occasion is.
Today I stayed home, read, and ate leftovers. There is a Christmas parade this evening downtown that we will go to.
I did go online this morning and ordered a pasta machine for our eldest son and a drawing tablet for our youngest grandson. The drawing tablet was on sale, but the pasta machine wasn’t.

Hey, Susan. I think I’m not too fond of giant crowds with all the pushing. And while I love shopping (I don’t have to buy, it’s the looking and comparing I really enjoy.), the crowds are not something I enjoy. Have never wanted to be part of the Black Friday craze and crowds. Definitely doing more online shopping than ever — and more than I’d like, really. I hate to battle the crowds, but I do prefer to shop in actual stores.

Hey, Darlene.I’m with you. I want to touch, feel, experience the item whatever in person. But I’m grateful for being able to shop on line. Before vaccinations, I ordered on line and drove up to have groceries loaded in the back. I was grateful. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

Marsha, enjoyed your post. The idea of fighting for a sale item on Black Friday has not been something I’ve tried. I do like to read the flyers, but the crowds tugging and pulling for the same product is not for for me. I usually shop the year round. If I see something that is right for a certain person, I buy it and put it away. Also on Thanksgiving day, I shopped on line. 🙂
